UltravoxUK Formed originally in 1974 and first led by vocalist John Foxx as Ultravox!, the band released three albums for Island Records before Foxx’s departure in 1979. Replaced by Midge Ure following a successful collaboration with keyboardist Billy Currie for Steve Strange’s Visage in early 1980, writing their hit single ‘Fade To Grey’. Ure revitalised the band, steering it towards commercial success whilst pioneering the New Wave, New Romantic and Synthpop movements. Signing to Chrysalis Records at the start of the 80s, Ultravox went from strength to strength securing five Top 10 LPs and 16 Top 40 singles in the UK. Hits include ‘Vienna’, ‘Hymn’, ‘Dancing With Tears In My Eyes’ and ‘Love’s Great Adventure’.
