Osmay Calvo, The Cubano!
Singer-songwriter of his music, wholeheartedly. As a child he walked the streets of Cuba, listening to the sounds of the conga in Cuban folklore and tropical music.
His charming personality rubs off on you; his voice was captivating. When music comes from his heart, it is impossible not to hear it.
Singing was a calling for him.
At the age of 9, he participated in a singing talent show, he took the first prize. After this, he was invited to participate in a wide variety of concerts and festivals. The versatility of his voice allowed him to sing from ballads, salsa boleros, and different Cuban musical compositions.
Osmay Calvo on 2/4/2001 was the winner of the Grand Prix of the 3rd Mariana de Gonitch National Singing Contest of Popular Music Interpretation in Cuba, it was given by Master Santiago Alfonso, General Director of Tropicana President of the Jury and Master Hugo Oslé, President Organizing Committee.
He also obtained the First Special Prize from the Academia Mariana de Gonitch in Havana, he was the Winner of the Revelation Prize and 2nd in the National Contest for the Interpretation of Mexican Music. He was the Winner of the First Prize on 09/17/2000 in Havana Centro Provincial of Music given by Adolfo Guzmán, Honorary President and Lolita López, La Voz Ranchera de Cuba.
He had the honor of sharing the stage with great stars such as La Super Diva Rosita Fornes, Maestro Luis Carbonell, Ela Calvo and La Musicalisima BeatrizMárquez, the Maestro Mundíto Gonzalez, Amparo Montes (Mexican singer) and the Maestro composer and Mexican pianist Chucho Zarzosa, at the Teatro América de Cuba. He collaborated in New York with the "maestro Johnny Pacheco" The Maestro Oscar D Leon, Jimmy Boss, Tito Nieves, among others.
The stars were aligned and Osmay shone. Cuba adored its young singer with the ability to sing from the heart and move audiences. His passion for writing his songs nurtured and spurred his performances and very soon he joined a musical company.
Today Osmay is facing one of his greatest challenges, competing with great artists in the Latin American market, something that was a source of inspiration for him! For Osmay the key to his success is that he lives to sing and singing is his life. When he sings Osmay does not always follow his lyrics. He connects with his audience at the time and improvises what it takes to touch their souls. The Cuban also sets fire to any dance floor with his dance.
