Poison Oak Music Townsville Poison Oak is a project from Far North Queensland. A collaboration of musicians previously playing in other outfits throughout Australia, now residing in Townsville. James Balthes, of whom played in rock outfits such as “Dunes”, “Jeremy Hunter and The Preachermen” and Brisbane favourites “The Bacchanales”. Balthes’ brings a diverse style of song writing, while collaborating with fellow musicians, Ray Pearson, Russell West and Grant Miles. West previously playing throughout Sydney in, “Kitty and the Well”. While Grant known for his hard hitting style in Brisbane outfits, “Major General” and “Cavendish”, while also playing for Melbourne artists’ “Paul Pomphrey” and “Charles J Tan” . The band brings out a sound of indie rock, with touches of punk and soul and a lyrical balance of storytelling combined with the truth. Poison Oak delivers songs with emotion and stories relatable to the common person and the ups and downs of life. “Start Again” is the groups first single, with it’s release shows the first introduction of the band, an uplifting but melancholic tune.
