Fort Lauderdale
Those that live in South Florida know Davie as the throwback enclave in the heart of Broward County that aspires to keep the “one-horse town” wild-west feel and aesthetic alive and well. However, those that listen to South Florida know Davie as the moniker of one of the most talented, hardworking bands in the indie rock scene today.
Davie is a 5-piece (usually…more on that later) combo that strives to create heartfelt, authentic, anthemic rock music that originates from, and aims straight for, the heart of America. Even a casual listen reveals stories of losers, heartbreak, survival, longing, the road, and redemption. This is the soundtrack to dusty sunsets and starry nights.
These character studies are delivered in a weathered, passionate voice courtesy of lead singer, songwriter, and guitarist Shayne Long. Long invites you into his world, and it feels comforting and well-known. Are these “ripped from the headlines” true stories or tall tales told at the end of a long night of wasting time?
Davie’s sound will be familiar to most, especially to lovers of twin guitar, vocal harmonies, and 4-on-the-floor driving beats. Astute listeners will catch flavors of Ryan Adams, The Beatles, Counting Crows, Jack Johnson, and Wilco. Envisioned as a full 5-piece act (with the recent addition of keys), Davie has also performed as a stripped-down duo, or even solo outlet depending on the venue and circumstance. This band loves and LIVES to play live.
A lyric sang with utmost conviction in one of their most vulnerable songs commands, “Leave a mark, it's what I’m here for.” Davie will leave a mark long after the last note has been struck.
