Jules Faife and Robin Banerjee - Tres Notas Para Decir Te Quiero by Jules Faife published on 2021-10-23T14:01:24Z Check out the video for this here: https://youtube.com/shorts/y0y5bKNDcYc?feature=share When playing a Latin style piece on electric guitar, the style that usually seems the most accessible is bossa nova - it's probably because of the comparatively long history of jazz mixing with bossa nova. I'm a big flamenco fan, especially of Paco de Lucia and Vicente Amigo. Although my favourite Vicente album is Vivencias Imaginadas, I chose a piece from his album Ciudad de las Ideas to collaborate with electric guitarist Robin Banerjee. To fuse styles like jazz and flamenco, you have to find the right piece and for me, Tres Notas Para Te Quiero has the right elements to please fans of both styles. As I said above, we bridged the two styles by playing a bossa nova type groove and approach. You'll still notice some rhythmic hits that are definitely more flamenco than anything else. Robin's approach to soloing is to apply a variety of jazz riffs to the appropriate chord and rhythm as the chord sequence progresses. I think my approach on Spanish guitar is perhaps more intuitive with less variation and precision - I go for a rhythmic feel on the appropriate scale and see where it takes me. Genre Latin
