The Charlatan by BrainBeat published on 2024-04-30T06:19:52Z This is my entry for the 182th edition of the KVR One Synth Challenge where all sounds were generated using the Charlatan 3 VST plugin using mix of free included effects in Ableton Live 11. I hope you enjoy it and feel free to offer any comments on how I might improve it if I were to do a remix for a wider release. Please also note that downloads are only intended for personal use. Redistribution to other platforms (except for what is needed for the challenge ) or modification is prohibited. If you wish to use it commercially or do a remix don't hesitate to get in touch with me first. Genre Dance & EDM Comment by DoctorBob I think the kick vs snare balance is a bit off - I like your shaker style hats! 2024-05-15T12:11:55Z Comment by DoctorBob Good track and clear mix - your getting so much better - now some more melodic lines would help. 2024-05-15T12:10:22Z Comment by SilverPants Great to hear you are finally nailing the production side. Excellent work. It's a really well balanced, energetic mix. Quality. 2024-05-14T21:25:58Z Comment by Davi-DJ Well mixed. The percusion elements, the bass, and pad chords fit well together 2024-05-14T15:43:55Z Comment by ELEX Imho, shortening the mallet to the point of losing tone doesn't sound too good. I think simply filtering would have been to way to go there. 2024-05-14T14:13:53Z Comment by ELEX Good mix again – clear, crisp and balanced. All nice and cheerful too. I think it's best when you have the mallet and keys together. The mallet on it's own felt a bit static to me. 2024-05-14T14:13:13Z Comment by NeverBeenInARiot The mix is pretty good (snare aside), and I get you went for something quite chilled here, but some elements like the marimba didn't really do anything for me. I would have love to hear it expand on the FE-ish riff and open up a bit. But anyways, just some random dude's opinion - Overall, I hear a lot of progress in your work and that's good to see. 2024-05-13T20:46:35Z Comment by NeverBeenInARiot I really like the rest of the drums, but the snare comes across as very under-powered and dry. 2024-05-13T20:43:41Z Comment by NeverBeenInARiot love the intro, reminds me of a Flat gentleman from France a bit :) 2024-05-13T20:40:08Z Comment by Wikter Good sound, but lacks development & timbre work... Automate! 2024-05-13T13:35:57Z Comment by MadMcMan your mixing is really good, the only thing lacking is that special hook that you hum or gets stuck in your mind. also a small pet peave of mine is white noise sweeps :D 2024-05-13T03:17:48Z Comment by z good sounds, overall enjoyable track. would have loved something that made it stand out a bit more, but as is it's coherent and a nice job 2024-05-12T19:34:23Z Comment by Mauvecastle I think it's a very nice track. It doesn't seem like it anything new happens after the first 90 seconds. That's OK. Nothing new has to happen but it wouldn't hurt if there was more contrast in different parts. A little something new introduced. 4 minutes is fine. Refer to DJ Davi for example. 2024-05-12T14:50:24Z Comment by Viroo Nice track. Goes well into the ear. The breaks loosen up the song well. Maybe it's a little too long, but that's absolutely a matter of opinion! 2024-05-11T18:17:04Z
