Episode 19 - Dan Donohue, Part 1 by Around the Galaxy published on 2019-07-09T01:31:55Z Dan Donohue is the accomplished actor who brought one of BattleFront II’s breakout characters, Shriv Suurgav. He has been a member of the Oregeon Shakespeare Festival for 11 seasons and played Scar on Broadway and in the national touring production of Julie Taymor’s The Lion King. Dan has recently been seen on television in the CBS All Access series, Strange Angels and the Amazon Prime Original, For All Mankind. While Star Wars fans know him for his video game work as the cantankerous Duros, Shriv, he has also played roles in Skyrim (as Teldryn Sero), Wolfenstein II, Fallout 4, Halo 5 and Spider-Man. A character actor, he’s appeared in Chicago P.D., Fear the Walking Dead and Scream Queens. On this first part of a two-part episode, we dig into his early acting career, his time in the Lion King and how he was inspired by Star Wars to become an actor. On an episode that often is interrupted by absurd humor and laughs, Dan also shares what went into becoming Shriv, how he got the role and the benefits to having a “pleasantly unpleasant” voice. He even shares info on a Star Wars role he auditioned for but didn’t get. 2:30 Shakespeare calling 5:45 Scar in The Lion King 10:45 Zazu and Threepio 12:30 The Star Wars role he didn’t get 16:00 Classic actors in Star Wars 20:30 The importance of story 24:00 Dan’s first time … seeing Star Wars 26:45 Exploring the rich history of an Expanded Universe 33:45 Now he’s IN the Universe 37:30 Becoming Shriv 44:00 Getting to know Shriv and the rest of Battle Front II 46:00 Meeting Mark Hamill 47:30 Voice acting vs. On-Camera 49:30 Benefits of the “Creepy” pleasantly unpleasant voice 55:15 Creating Shriv and Shriv fans Twitter: @Donoview Instagram: Donoview Around the Galaxy online: www.Patreon.com/AroundTheGalaxy @ATGcast Our host: www.PeteFletzer.com ATG Swag: www.TeePublic.com/users/AroundTheGalaxy Making Star Wars Podcast Network: www.MakingStarWars.net Theme Music: Apollo’s Ghost, Available on iTunes Please subscribe, like, share, rate us 5 stars and review us.
