Vagrant Winter Vagrant Winter are Mike Borgsdorf and Josh Mancell. They used to watch Electric Company together in the 70s. Then they were punk rock drummers, classic rock connoisseurs and summer camp counselors in the 80s. They eventually migrated from Michigan to California in the 90s and became the rhythm section for the psychedelic-lite cabaret combo: Uluteka. While navigating through various 21st century twists and turns, they’ve set up shop as Vagrant Winter. Mike writes the songs. Josh sets up the microphones. Mike sings and plays his guitar. Josh records Mike singing and playing. They add other instruments - low frequency flatwounds, thrift store melodicas, snareless snares, electric slides, bowed metals and plucked dust. Josh mixes the songs with Mike... and then they re-arrange and re-adjust until the sparks fly. Vagrant Winter channels direct inspiration from the pastoral side of Zep, Floyd, Jack Bruce and other English Arts and Craftsmen… and tangential inspiration from homegrown American Rock ‘n’ Roll types including Joe Walsh, Stephen Stills and pre-beard era Bob Seger (who inadvertently donated the Vagrant Winter namesake).
