SASS RIGS COMPARED: MKH 8020s v AT 4022s by Vicki Powys published on 2011-12-27T04:37:11Z I compared a stereo pair of MKH 8020s mounted in a DIY foam SASS, with a pair of Audio Technica AT 4022s mounted in a Crown SASS. These are consecutive recordings (rather than simultaneous), it was early dawn on Xmas morning, rigs were set up on my front verandah. By ear I cannot pick the difference between the two rigs, but a sound spectrograph shows that the 8020s are a little noisier. Both rigs alternately ran to a Sound Devices 702 recorder, I added 3 db to the 4022s in post, to match the levels. Genre wildlife sounds Comment by Andrew Perkin I cant tell the difference, both are very clear and open. 2014-08-19T14:02:31Z Comment by Andrew Perkin Cant easily tell the diference. But there must be in price. 2013-05-15T12:54:51Z Comment by Vicki Powys for more details on a comparison of five different stereo arrays, see my web page here: http://www.caperteebirder.com/index.php?p=1_30_recording-gear-3 2011-12-28T21:48:50Z Comment by wildearthvoices Vicki, is it me or do the 4022's sound brighter? 2011-12-28T10:11:21Z Comment by Vicki Powys MKH 8020s 2011-12-27T04:38:36Z Comment by Vicki Powys AT 4022s 2011-12-27T04:38:11Z
