915_SITD Nine Fifteen Los Angeles Following the successful reception of Nine:Fifteen debut LP Electric Blanket, the band took steps in developing a visual and sonic experince that could only best be described as Full Moon Funk. When Nine:Fifteen decided it was time to start recording their second album, they found their unique lane. Songs they’d written shared some emotional states and narrative threads - love, trust, commitment to fresh, and communication between friends and lovers, both real and imagined. These songs culminated in “Shooting In The Dark”, a diverse collection of exploration including Indie Rock, Hip Hop, Funk, Soul and Dance. Part of the recording was funded by Nine:Fifteen's die hard fan base. The band launched a fan-funding campaign, spread the word, and their fans heeded the call. They believed, they believed they believed. Musically, Nine:Fifteen both polished and expanded their approach, retaining their majestic, raw sound on “30 Something Love,” a postmodern mid-tempo anthem with a deep pocket and “Right I Will , a whirlwind which calls to mind a completely new sound and a new ”future. “Savings”, one of the first songs to be written, sprang to life as Nine:Fifteen took off comfortable on their own path now realizing they possess a unique alchemy melting all genres into a psychedelic freak out, emotional high night of Full Moon Funk. "Shooting In The Dark" is the logical progression. A quilt of sound and a fog of funk for a band that already kickstarted their career with a promising debut.
