Afluentes Ensemble
Salvador
Afluentes Ensemble started life as Ensemble Phuturista, which was formed in January, 2020 by the guitarist and composer George Christian, who, along with the producer and sound engineer Heitor Dantas and the performer and vocalist Maria Futurista, form the nucleus to the group, which includes as participants: the drummer Fernando Fernandes, invited Vítor Rios (banjo), André Miranda Filho (cello), Paulo Roberto Pitta (tenor sax), Yrlan Guedes (alto saxophone, violin, trumpet, flute), Juan Almeida (bass). Eventually the band also had the guest Talionpills (vocals and electronics). Ensemble Phuturista was the host band of the biweekly multiartistic event Onda Futurista, which happens in Salvador (Bahia, Brazil) at the Galeria Paciência. Also, guest musicians come alongside members in free-improvisation sessions.
Ensemble Phuturista existed only by January and February, 2020. Since then, the band has never returned, as well as the aforementioned event. The band now has started a second life (and real start) as Afluentes Ensemble, finally accomplishing in January, 2023 what has been in talks after months. There's a new line-up: George Christian (guitars), Yrlan Guedes (alto saxophone, violin, flute and assorted instruments), Fernando Fernandes (drums and percussion), Maurício Lourenço (piano, bass), Eufrásia Neres (vocals) and the recent inclusions Edson Dantas (flute, percussion, electronics), Cristiano Figueiró (bass) and Paulo Souza (percussion). For a brief moment, Thayná Oliveira (cello) and Andrei Junquilho (percussion, electronics) had their respective passages in the group. After recording the EP A Nova Lenda do Abaeté, released in February 23rd, 2024, the group has finished their activities.
