AIR 026 / Vera by AIR published on 2020-08-27T10:08:48Z Joining me for our 26th instalment is DJ, label boss, and promoter, @Veragoesdeep. Having got her start DJing in the 1990s, Vera moved to Berlin where she has become a fixture at Hoppetosse and CDV, clubs which are also home to @MelliflowRecords — the event series and label she founded in 2016 with fellow DJ Alexandra. Vera is a master of the expressive, journey like DJ set, and in this conversation, we discuss how emotional connection between the DJ and the event, the crowd, and the music can feed the soul. +++ Music: Vera - "Take Me" (Assemble Music 2013) Audio treatment by Airlock Audio, Montreal Genre Podcast Comment by theories the real deal <3 2023-12-07T18:22:32Z Comment by Two Phase U Awesome thanks for this interview! 2020-12-04T01:17:55Z Comment by Walrus (and his) Basic Moves so nice interview. thanks a lot <3 2020-11-25T11:27:28Z Comment by samam Thank you, Vera ❤️❤️❤️ 2020-09-02T21:42:48Z Comment by stmmtoy <3 2020-08-27T13:42:47Z Comment by AIR “With Melliflow, we really try to consider how people feel and what they need in a party to feel comfortable and to feel welcome. It’s important that your crowd is comfortable and happy. That’s why we have such a nice vibe because people know that we care for them.” 2020-08-27T10:29:03Z Comment by AIR “I would like people to leave from the party with the feeling that they actually experienced something, they went through different emotions and it filled them. To connect to these emotions will give them some kind of satisfaction. I always try to finish my set, especially closing a party, like bringing them home, bringing them back inside of themselves.” 2020-08-27T10:28:47Z Comment by AIR “I’ve been in this moment, I feel like I lost my way and didn’t play necessarily what I felt because I thought people might not understand it… I rather chose what was easier and what was safe. [But to come back from that], I just forced myself to play the music I felt.” 2020-08-27T10:27:21Z Comment by AIR “I select the records that express the mood that I’m in in this moment, so of course this is already a reflection of how I feel. There is a certain openness: maybe sometimes it goes a bit dark, sometimes it’s super happy or it’s maybe very emotional.” 2020-08-27T10:27:10Z
