⭑ BIO ⭑
Italy’s impact on the global electronic music scene is an unquestionable one.
From Marco Carola to DJ Ralf, the country has always punched above its
weight when it comes to discerning electronica. Another artist who firmly
belongs among such esteemed company is Alan Banjo. Born and raised in
Milan, Italy, Banjo has cultivated a rich tech-house/techno sound that’s brought
him to the attention of some of the globe’s leading labels over the years.
Prolific, technical and the sort of DJ who boasts a magical, unique sound,
Banjo’s musical nous first came to the fore during a formative spell in Milan’s
radio stations, where he quickly learned how to produce electronic music. In
the mid 90s, Banjo produced his first record, but it wasn’t until he moved to
Australia in 2005 that his talents came to wider prominence. Under his J Nitti
alias, Banjo produced on some of the biggest labels of the era, not least seminal
NYC imprint, Nervous Records, Alex Kenji’s HotFingers as well as Hed Kandi
and Azuli.
In 2015, Nitti released ‘Deep Down’, a slamming tech house track that spent an
impressive 3 months in the Beatport top 3. Further success soon followed, as
Nitti remixed Eric Powell’s “Reach Out”. Nitti’s “Made in Mel” remix didn’t
just land at number 2 in the Beatport chart, but it also led to an unlikely
friendship with the King of Clubs himself, Powell’s best friend, Mr. Carl Cox.
This association ultimately paved the way for a release on Cox’s Intec Digital,
where he released the Trip Trap EP to great aplomb, with the release hitting #2
in the Beatport Techno chart. Recent endevaours have seen Banjo release his
music on the likes of Umek’s 1605 Therapy, Funk n’Deep, Bush Records and
legendary label, Trax. He has also collaborated with fellow big room techno
lovers such as Toolroom boss Mark Knight also.
Endorsed by Carl Cox, Timo Maas and Umek, Banjo has also shared the decks
with the likes of Guy Gerber, Chaim and Darren Emerson. The next coming
months look equally busy too, with even more releases to follow. For Alan
Banjo, the next chapter looks set to be every bit as exciting as what’s come
before.
