Anagrammar Phil McDonald Sheffield A singer/songwriter with a distinctive lo-fi and melancholic sound, Anagrammar combines artful arrangements with wispy falsettos to make songs that quietly bubble with a subtle menace. His music is punctuated with swooning vocals, astute chord transitions, and abstract lyrics that capture an idiosyncratic vulnerability echoing his lo-fi sensibilities. Anagrammar counts Charles Bukowski alongside Beat Generation pioneers William S. Burroughs, Jack Kerouac, and Allen Ginsberg as influences for his lyrical and songwriting approach, complemented with compositional cues and musical characteristics from artists such as Elliott Smith, Gene Clark, Daniel Johnston, and Neil Young. Following the 2021 single The Creeper In Your Wall and EP Mangled Metaphors, Anagrammar released his first feature-length album Fear The Worst on March 16, 2022. This release comfortably sits alongside his growing back catalogue of previously unreleased songs, demos, and EPs that have been gathering digital dust — Until now.
