Yamaha VL1 - Prime Synth Programming Demo by Anthony Bisset published on 2016-08-11T03:13:22Z Between 1990 and 1994 researchers at CCRMA Stanford collaborated with Yamaha making the VL1, VL1m, VL7 and VP1. These synthesizers set the standard for Physical Modeling technology and are yet to be rivaled by modern DSP platforms(Kyma, Tassman, Reaktor, Max/MSP, Korg Oasys-PCI, Sculpture, etc.). The VL1 series of synths remain a sound designers playground and have been used in many film and television shows. This quick demo explores the unusual reactive tones and textures of the VL1. No external processing or FX was applied to this recording, everything you hear is direct from the synth. Comment by Manny Fernandez Nice track. Showcases the wide range of of playable, expressive timbres and behaviors in the old girl... 2020-03-08T22:35:51Z Comment by Black Hawk Music Hi Anthony, how did you edited this sounds? With an Editor? Or on the Synth itself? 2019-10-08T21:25:33Z Comment by pluginguru While the abilities of the VL1 are very impressive, I don't agree that the 6-string model in the Korg Kronos II is not on par if not more advanced than the VL1. Having created many of the factory patches the Korg Kronos II 6-String engin, it is equally mind blowing, imo. 2019-03-04T08:27:04Z Comment by Ryan Gaston Aside from being an awesome synth, this has to be the best music i've heard in a long time. demo or no, these sounds are incredible and beautiful 2018-12-03T03:16:12Z Comment by jkorchok Still the best sounds! I'm working with Rudy Verpaele, his VL1/VL1-m/VL7 librarian is now available. You can read more here and watch his video tutorial: http://www.johnkorchok.com/VL1.html 2017-06-27T15:40:01Z Comment by RESPIRO Indeed, the VL1 is still one of the most expressive synths. FYI, I recently released a powerful editor for his little brother the VL70m. See http://www.vl70m-editor.com/site/ I do own a VL1 and have real plans to build similar editor for it. Unfortunately I do not receive sufficient requests (yet) and it is difficult to reach out to the VL1 users because I'm not allowed to publish info on those popular Windcontroller/sax forums.. So, VL1 users out there, get in contact with me….please… Rudy, the VL-Wizard, Belgium 2017-05-11T13:52:13Z Comment by JohnLRice Amazing sounding synth and patches!!! 2016-09-04T06:40:23Z
