Ride Up On The Breeze by Aqualamb Records published on 2022-06-10T17:13:35Z Freaky Wilderness is the new jawn by multi-instrumentalist Michael Guggino from the Brooklyn psych-rock outfit, The Space Merchants (Aqualamb Records). Always active as a repository for eccentric and untamed musical explorations but released from the box during the coronavirus pandemic, Freaky Wilderness combines lo-fi hip-hop beats with Guggino's love for psychedelic, folk, outlaw country, and stoner rock. Begun in a hotel room while working on a reality show about the Amish, Freaky Wilderness' began collaborating with a host of other artists like She Keeps Bees, Emma Decorsey (I Am the Polish Army), Anika Pyle, and Carter Logan (SQÜRL). Following up on a string of self-released EPs, Guggino's latest recordings bring new flavors to the pro-generators of low-fi hip-hop and psych-folk. Taking influences ranging from J Dilla, Nujabes, Knxwledge to John Prine, Bill Withers, and Donavan. Freaky Wilderness will begin dropping new tracks this October on Aqualamb Records. The first single, "This Side of Life," features Logan (SQÜRL) plus Guggino's Space Merchants bandmate Ani Monteleone and former collaborator Dan Verechia (This Radiant Boy). Written about his experiences as the live sound man for the successful paranormal show Ghost Adventures, Guggino says: "The song is from my time traveling while shooting and hearing hundreds of ghost encounters from all kinds of people. All their stories sounded so similar. They saw something and couldn't quite tell what it was. It made me think about how we all want ghosts to be real because we've all lost people and think about seeing them again." Keep your eyes wide shut and ears open for future releases because anything can happen in the Freaky Wilderness. Genre Alternative Rock
