Arturo Cardelús Los Angeles Arturo Cardelús is a rising talent in the film industry. His most recent project, Call Me Francis, is a Netflix Original miniseries about the life of Pope Francis directed by Palme d’Or nominee Daniele Luchetti. Critic Jonathan Broxton named the soundtrack one of the year's best scores, calling Cardelús "a clearly very talented young composer whose career I will be watching with eagerness.” Cardelús has previously scored such films as Altamira: El Origen del Arte, directed by Goya Award winner José Luis López Linares; Madre Quentina, starring Spanish film icon Rossy de Palma; and The Answers, which won Best Short Film at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. Cardelús also orchestrated the Golden Globe-nominated film The Paperboy alongside Jon Kull. In advertising, he has worked on national campaigns for Mercedes-Benz, Xarelto, and others. Cardelús' contributions to the world of concert music were recognized when he was elected an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music in 2016. His works have been performed across Europe, Asia, and the United States in such venues as Madrid's Auditorio Nacional, Tokyo's Kioi Hall, Seoul's Arts Center Concert Hall, and Boston's Jordan Hall. Naxos, a leading classical music label, released an album of Cardelús's chamber music in 2015. The album includes the suite Con Aire de Tango, which was commissioned by Berlin Philharmonic soloists and recorded at Berlin's Philharmonie. Cardelús has also composed chamber works commissioned by Natalia Ensemble, Cuarteto Granada, and Tanya Gabrielian, and his works have been also been performed by Gidon Kremer’s Kremerata Baltica and Japanese violinist Iwao Furusawa. Cardelús hails from Madrid, Spain. He studied piano performance at the Royal Academy of Music in London, Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest, and the Conservatorio Superior de Música in Salamanca. Cardelús then shifted his focus, studying composition and film scoring at Boston's Berklee College of Music, where he graduated summa cum laude and received the composition department's highest award. Cardelús currently lives in Los Angeles.
