Afterglow (Asha Marinella And Denise Elayda)(Demo 1) by Asha Marinella published on 2021-05-16T13:20:20Z 8 months ago, I experienced the loss of a dear friend for the very first time. Slowly, I discovered that instead of forcing myself to dance it out, I found that exploring other forms of art - like songwriting - brought me healing too. After hearing Denise's song "Afterglow" on Spotify, I felt that putting words to music was another way to help me deal with things. This song is a result of that attempt to understand how to deal with losses, letting go, and learning to move forward. This song may not solve the world's problems, but it is my hope that it can help make things a bit more bearable for whoever may need it.* (*That last sentence was inspired by what one of my closest friends told me recently. Hi Hya if u see this - I love u!) Read more about the story behind the song here: https://ashamarinella.com/2021/05/16/musicinthemaking-afterglow/ Thank you so much Denise for the music that inspired me to create these lyrics and put this together! The original Afterglow (without words) is up on Spotify. ----- AFTERGLOW Lyrics and Melody: Asha Marinella Music: Denise Elayda LYRICS Here I am, and I don't know what I'll do With the spaces that make me think of you But I don't want to let you slip away And fade into memories of yesterday Didn't know our last goodbye Was the last we'd have in this lifetime Wish you saw how you helped Put me back together again But there's no point in looking back And thinking what you could have had So I'll just take the love you gave And pass it to another face Cause you made me see how Nothing else matters now No use fighting while we're together, Can't love each other disguised as clouds and thunder I'll wipe away the tears I've cried Remember in your last goodbye Shared your love through the night, shared your light, As you go in the afterglow In the afterglow In our hearts we'll always know You gave us your final show Purple streaks in the afterglow In the afterglow While the sun sets here we'll wait Your life we'll celebrate In the afterglow One day we'll see you again Genre Indie
