CAPT. HOOK'S ARRIVAL OCT 2020 by Leon Brouwer | composer published on 2020-10-17T01:37:57Z Hello music friends, Today a real Hollywood pastiche, with the Cinesamples orchestral ship. I've had a lot of positive response to previous uploads, and most wanted a combination of John Williams, Dave Grushin and Howard Shore "Get out of the way, you bunch of sea rascals, clear the way and let me see where those cannons will blast" Captain Hook's ship has arrived in the bay. The moon is half lit and the smoke from the pistols and muskets is still scenting .. a bleak mist creeps over the ground .🏴☠️🏴☠️ In this musical poem you will find a lot of counterpoint in the brass section. A great tip to make glissandi with the string harmonics is to use your pitch wheel. To make the tubalar bells look like real (ship)bells just have fun at the EQ station. If you ever want to get started with this kind of music yourself, throw in a nice ostinato bass every now and then. Just let a melody get lost and come back later. If you get writer's block, do not hesitate to take a piece from another composer and then work it out as you wish. Hitting any notes can also be very effective. When it comes to counterpoint (note to note movement), you are actually contradictory within the melody or chord progression. For every melody or counter melody is a solution, be it in a cadence consonant or disconcerting. (don't forget to finish those lines it's very important for the overall sound. Enfin, Especially with the deep brass, this is a beautiful effect that you always hear when John Williams just goes in an irregular flight with the brass .. chords in the horns and trumpets make the low section play beautifully contrasting. If you have any questions about some techniques please feel free to ask... a little note: some things are not visible, cpu thing!
