Christina received her cancer diagnosis 3 years ago and has since been undergoing treatment at MD Anderson Houston. She currently serves on the Young Adult Advisory Council for the Livestrong CALM Clinic, set to open in Spring 2019 at the UT Dell Medical School. Christina is a loving mother and wife, biologist, computer programmer and athlete living in Austin TX. She is a seamstress extraordinaire, with a lifetime of experience knitting and quilting beautiful textiles for her friends and family. The poetry and music Christina wrote for this song paints a picture of her frequent drives from Austin to Houston to receive treatment. She describes the experience of “waiting” for answers and for treatment while bearing the “weight” of the situation. Christina uses the language of sewing, quilting, and knitting to convey her message of strength.
