Automatic Weekend Automatic Weekend Austin Brothers Adrian and Sergio Romanos began as a two piece rock and blues band along the muddy banks of the Rio Grande. Calling themselves Automatic Weekend, they became a regular fixture among the night scene in and around south Texas. Soon after, they met fellow Laredoan and musician Fernando Gutierrez at a Black Keys show in Austin. However their meeting wasn't accidental. You see, the Romanos’ cousin, Luis Quiroz who also happened to be friends with Fernando, had been urging the three to get together. With an introduction put in place by Quiroz, they connected instantly. From there they became a trio with Fernando on bass, Adrian on guitar/vocals, and Sergio on drums. The band then changed their name to Them Straight Crooks when they moved to the Austin area in late 2011. In August of 2014, just before they started recording their new album, the band decided to resort back to the old moniker that is Automatic Weekend. The band is now in the process of finishing up the untitled album, due out fall 2014.
