The Christmas Song by Barry Kinzer published on 2022-12-03T14:42:53Z For Christmas 2022: This is my take on “The Christmas Song." Obviously, there is no topping the nearly perfect 1962 Nat King Cole recording, but I would never let things like "good taste" and "artistic restraint" stop me. The song starts with a vaguely 90's r&b feel, but quickly ascends (or descends, depending on your perspective) into what I call "boomer schmaltz." So much reverb, completely overstuffed with strings and vocals and percussion... which I just want I want to hear at this time of year. The smooth sax parts were played by my friend Chase Replogle. Other than that, I played, sang, or programmed all the parts myself in Logic. Enjoy the song, and Merry Christmas!
