Pooja B (she/her) is a Berlin-based Indian Dj, producer, radio show host, activist and curator. Her sound is a skittish exploration of time and space in this dystopian world which was heavily influenced
by her first visit to the city back in 2016. While loopy, industrial sounds in dark clubs are her signature style, she can skillfully adapt to play music for outdoor spaces while retaining her distinct pulse. Pooja B releases her music under her real name and the alias “ikigai” which is a Japanese concept that means "a reason for being". She is grounded in the belief that her reason for being is to make people dance.
She is the community support manager at Masala Movement, a platform for transcultural creativity. She also co-founded The EQ Way collective. She curated 'The EQ Way' radio show on Flux Music (Berlin), which provided a platform for femme-identifying artists
from the world over to showcase their music to a wider audience. She hosted a bi-weekly radio show called "ikigai" on India’s primary community radio, Boxout.fm which explored the realms of techno.
Her residency at Analog Room, the longest-running weekly underground night in Dubai (which was her base while working as a flight attendant) helped nuance her sound to a point now where soon
after she moved to Berlin, she became a regularly billed name. In the recent past, she was featured in Mixmag Asia - Pooja B, and her mix for Discwoman among others have been ranked as notable by
publications like Electronic Beats, Crack magazine, and others. She also appeared on Arjun Vagale & Ramiro Lopez’s Odd Recordings Oddcast in the past.
She has played several festivals and clubs in Europe (Denmark, Germany, Hungary, Portugal, Spain), Asia (Bali, China, India, Japan, Sri Lanka), South America (Chile), and the Middle East
(Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, Dubai).
Her most recent noteworthy appearances were at Tresor 31, Staub, Balance Festival, Documenta 15, Encore Une Fois, Rave Atlas, Transmission, Female Pressure & Celestial Festival in clubs
like Tresor West in Dortmund, Mujt in Leipzig Æden, and Party Office HQ in Kassel, Sisyphos, Renate, About Blank, Fiese Remise, Suicide Club, Mensch Meier in Berlin & Bronx Sauna, Stockholm & Mina Suspension, Lisbon that are both queer-centric raves.
