Electronic tech music spinning stalwart Mr Bedlam has been an integral part of Portsmouth's underground party movement for the better part of nearly fifteen years now. Those in the know, know that he is famed for his versatility as a DJ and has a broad and eclectic taste when it comes to track selection, always successfully managing to make such crate digging for a great track, work entirely in his favour on any dance floor he provides a soundtrack for.
Quickly becoming a fan of what is now to be considered 'old skool', harking back to the hey days of 90's rave music and the vibrant explosion of the scene that followed, Bedlam went to his first rave as young as 14 and never once looked back. Enjoying the evolution of some of the scene's finest Meccas – 'Helter Skelter', 'Rollers', The Sanctuary, 'Raindance', The Hippodrome, the mighty 'Slinky', SE1 London and many more since; Lee made the journey from front row raver to stage bound party provider by picking up his first set of decks and developing a love for the beat match. Starting with hard house at first, later developing a taste for house, acid techno, squat techno, shranz, electro, tech house and breaks and not constricting himself to any one particular style of electronic music, Lee's ability to 'just play f*c*ing great music and keep the crowd well and truly entertained' became something that got him noticed – at first by friends and then by some key local promoters.
Quickly making the jump from breaking through to well known, he became not only a face on the scene but a regular and resident (and in some cases both) for a large number of underground parties in Portsmouth, Brighton, Bournemouth, Southampton, London and further afield.
Not limited to just playing for others, Lee also had the great pleasure of throwing a few free parties of his own , these events known back then as 'DSS' had started as a handful of speakers and a couple of like minded people, but then became a very well attended thing of local legend. Taking place on beaches, in barns, quarries and other obscure yet entirely perfect locations for a proper outdoor rave, (you know, the way it all begin), with a real festival vibe; Lee's skills as both promoter and host both on and off the stage equally became a thing of legend.
Building up a repertoire that currently sees him play a cross section of “acid house, techno, tech house, party bangers and classics”, Lee's performances have included gigs at the home of the Portsmouth underground, The Barn, 'Jagged Tek', 'Stable Sounds' and 'Contact' to name a short few, which has in turn given him the opportunity to share a bill, flyer space and a stage with such revolutionary artists as Inland Knights, 808 State, Top Buzz, Easygroove, D.A.V.E The Drummer, Sterling Moss, The Geezer, Gizelle, Rackit, The Liberators, Dave Angel, Eddie Richards, Colin Dale, Aubrey, Lisa Lashes and The Shamen's Mr C amongst others..
Bedlam by name and most certainly Bedlam by nature when it comes to holding his own on the main stage, his well blended, finely selected and expertly beat matched techno sets have made Lee a firm favourite with promoters right across the board and this continues to grow from strength to strength as he tears up dance floors country wide.
