Sh Vinod Agarwal Vrindavan Unlike customary bhajan sandhyas, Shri Vinod ji Agarwal's soulful singing portrays a candid dialogue between Lord Krishna and a Gopi (an affectionate devotee). He primarily stresses upon being lovingly casual with God instead of just formally worshipping HIM out of fear. His profound selection of Sufi poetry, musically blending it with Braj literature, further adding it on with Urdu couplets and catchphrases in English impressively drench the audiences in the different moods of devotion ('Ras') - feeling the terrible absence of God (Vireh Ras), passionately calling Him (Pukaar), lamentably waiting for His re-appearance (Intzaar), complaining for delay (Praney rosh) and finally celebrating His arrival (Shringaar Ras). Born on 6th June 1955 to Sh Krishandas Agarwal and Smt Ratni Devi Agarwal in Delhi, Sh Vinod Agarwal migrated to Mumbai with his family in 1962 and later to Vrindavan in 2012 after winding up his cloth manufacturing business. Blessed with a devotional atmosphere at home, Sh Vinod Agarwal was interested in devotional singing since his early childhood and began playing harmonium at the age of twelve. A major turning point occurred in his life when he met his Sadguru, Sankirtan Samraat Swami Mukund Hari Ji Maharaj in October, 1978. He got initiated in 1979 and selflessly took the charge to fulfill his master's desire of spreading the nectar of Hari naam across the world. Eventually, it became the aim of his own life to reach Lord through his singing. He started giving stage programs in 1993 with a personal vow to accept neither cash nor kind in return and his sacred stream of sankirtan is flowing till date. He has travelled far and wide to help people experience the magic of divine sound-therapy(an apt harmony between ‘shabad’ and ‘naad’). As on 1-7-2018 his live programs numbered above 2250 and there are more than 130 albums compiling his spiritual chants. Shri Vinod Agarwal's inimitable way of addressing 'Pyare', ‘hey Govind - Gopal’ inadvertently takes the listeners to the ecstatic plane of Braj-leela and they experience a direct connection with Parmaatma throigh his superanatural voice. He has the unrivaled art of switching from one raag to another without taking a pause and he attributes all this to the blessings of Guru Maharaj who is carrying on his own work through him. Vinod ji Agarwal believes that it is purely God’s grace that initially his parents motivated him, next the teachings of various saints kept directing him and most importantly his wife, Smt Kusum Lata Agarwal gave her unconditional support in his spiritual journey throughout.
