White Spangled Hills by Bruce Avery published on 2019-06-20T03:20:14Z Look at a U.S. map, and draw a straight line from Natchez, Mississippi to Richmond, Virginia. Then cross it with another line from Savannah, Georgia to Memphis, Tennessee. Next draw a circle around the outside tips of each line. The area you've encircled is the subject of this song. There is so much spectacular beauty in this world, but I just have never found another place that can compare to a thick old-growth Appalachian forest or the rolling hardwood and pine hills of central Alabama or middle Tennessee. I grew up there but don't get to go back often enough. The song's title White Spangled Hills is reference to the dogwood tree, which grows wild throughout the area, coloring the wooded hillsides with its white blooms for a month or so in early Spring. Genre Americana Comment by πΈ π π π π BBeing a fan of naturewriters like Jim Harrison , Thomas mc Guane , Rick bass etc etc , I can only love this song. ππππ 2023-10-01T14:13:27Z Comment by Mike Molino Very picturesque through the beautifully descriptive lyrics, well written 2023-09-07T18:51:25Z Comment by 1roomstudio Great Songwriting.... excellent production πβοΈβ¨ 2023-08-19T18:29:58Z Comment by winkandwoo this is lovely , great picture painting with words 2023-07-13T18:03:49Z Comment by Craig T Elliott Absolutely beautiful! 2023-04-12T00:10:16Z Comment by Glenny G's One Man Band clean production full of mood and imagery well done bruce 2023-04-11T00:28:42Z Comment by SANDERS Classic songwriting Bruce., just brilliant π₯π₯π₯ 2023-04-05T06:13:45Z Comment by johndearjohn Another great one! 2023-03-26T10:31:51Z Comment by Star Rebel Cage wonderfullycontemplative song 2023-02-20T08:02:53Z Comment by No killie fish such a great description in your comments, its a great song a song about real life and that's what song writing is all about. another great tune Bruce .
