Red Rack'em // Music They Love #64 by ColdCuts // HotWax published on 2021-07-20T19:15:12Z 'Music They Love'... we ask DJ's and producers to delve into their collection and put together a selection of records that have meant a lot to them in the past, as well as the present. All things inspirational and influential - the records which have shaped their sound as a producer or selection as a DJ. This time around we're joined by Bristol-based producer and DJ @red-rackem. We've been long time fans of his productions here at the shop, so it's a real pleasure to have him involved in our series. He put together a whopper of a mix from his personal collection, no genre was off limits. Here's what he had to say about the mix: "I have always enjoyed a wide range of music and I've been collecting records since 1992, so this mix was a great opportunity to go completely all over the place. There's no beat mixing as I didn't want to be constricted by tempo. It's more of a compilation than a mix. Imagine you've come over to my house for dinner and I am providing a random and occasionally off piste soundtrack after we've eaten. I love playing banging club sets like everyone else but there's something special about being able to play whatever you want when you want. I hope everyone enjoys these records as much as I do." My lad and I sat by our fire 🔥 prepared, cooked and eat. Now the sun has gone low and its finally cool. That last few hours took me through places id forgotten id been and ignited memories that were long lost from so many different random segments of my childhood, life goodness knows. Moments that were clearly part of who I've become now. Im not gonna list it all as the moments are fading. Like I took my first microdot in a terraced house on Gordon Grove in Basford, Nottingham listening to Who Is Afraid Of The Art Of Noise. That came rushing back. so many more of those moments during this incredible journey. Where the real hiphop was was not in my world, my potent tribe and political music was Subhumanz, Crass, MDC, Black Flag, Butthole Surfers etc etc but my god. I really never expected that to happen tonight after following an Instagram post to here.. Amazing work Mr Rack'em 2021-07-21T19:12:49Z Comment by Country Gents I love this, its like sitting at Woodstock ! 2021-07-21T16:47:12Z Comment by O.O.R.S.
