About the journey :
Music knows no borders! It’s even more true for Latin music that took its influences from African rhythms, cultures, and traditions. It started in Cuba before exporting to all Latin America, the Caribbean and after a few years, came back to Africa and mix with the griots’ instruments to evolve into Afro-Latin and Afro-Cuban music. The music you will hear in this mix was mostly brought from a few travels I did to find records around the globe and especially in Colombia, Benin and Trinidad.
This musical journey amongst the several Caribbean, Latin and African countries attempt to enlighten the wonderful diversity and musical fusions that transcended space and time: from the 50s to the 80s, from Cuba to Dakar… Music from Cuba, Panama, Colombia, Trinidad, Equator, Venezuela, Peru, Puerto Rico, Congo, Ivory Coast and Senegal. The diversity is also in the variety of genres :
Equatorian traditional, Currulao, Son, Charanga, Bomba, Guajira, Boogaloo, Plena, Bomba, Salsa, Cumbia, Afro-cuban and Afro-Latin.
Have a nice trip into Latin music's diversity !
