I think this track started 2 years ago. I remember talking about the vision with Jamie on the phone and then Jamie sent me a bunch of stems to choose from. I chose the standing bass and recorded my verse with a 90’s vibe in mind. I sent the track over to Russell to add some guitars, he sent that funk rock intro and riff back, and then I don’t know what happened after that? A bunch of other songs got made and the vision for this track expanded to include cutting my second verse and bringing Jon Lock in on vocals. Then the song sat again. Jon and I even started and completed And So You Say and Training Day after we had already got this song started. Since this track was visioned to be part of the first song on the set with Training Day, eventually it had to be completed. Wou-Wou then join in with his synths, rhythm guitar over Jon’s part, and some additional guitar over the first section. This gave the track the final fire it needed and Russell mixed and mastered it like a champ!
As always, massive thanks to Wou-Wou and Russell who have been regular collaborators on so many projects, on SoundCloud, Facebook, and Bandcamp. Wou and Russell will always be the core of my musical team. Thanks for being great friends!
Big thanks also to Jon, who I have worked with on 3 songs now, with 2 more in the works already!
And thanks to Jamie for all his patience, support, and for the completion of our second project together!
This song goes out to all the music nerds, appreciators, and lovers with strong opinions. Keep those conversations going. I spent many, many years, going to the record store several times a week, hanging and talking with the staff, some who became good friends.

Lyrics
Everything changes
Nothing stays the same
I used to hate it when my people would say it's a shame
Stating that the games gone lame
Claiming that today the music is wack
At times I would refrain and take a step back
But most of the time I would counter attack
Back in the day, we would say, Clever repartee
When we were clowning around
But now a days we taking the things a bit more serious
Or maybe it's just me, see
I ain't playing around as much as I used to be
Conversations at a minimal
It's not that I'm more critical or cynical
It's that I am a more apathetic individual
I just don't care
Call me hypocritical
I be like that's fair
Yo
What happened to all the innovators, rhyme slayers, originality generators
You know
There really all still there
Back in the days we had to dig in the crates
Looking for the lessor known greats
I guess that's still the way it operates
Hates a narrow minded state
And It take effort to educate
So
I’ma stay open and keep on diggin’
Vibin' on the sounds that I be hearin’
Yea
And you know it's like that
And you know and you know and you know it's like that
Keep keep on, keep keep on
keep keep keep on
And you know it’s like that
Here comes the backup plan
The man without a name
Don’t want to be no star
Just musical acclaim
Brush back those famous hats like children in the street
I’m gonna sing a bit while Couch King cracks the beat
Whoa baby now shake
Like momma told you now
Whoa baby now shake
Like this was made for
This is a slice of funk
USDA prime
Let it get to your head
You will feel fine
Poetry in motion
Images in time
Back beats and refined commotion
Aged like fine wine
Any you know it’s like that
