The World Premiere of Three Shakespeare Sonnents from that colossus of the classical world, Sir John Tavener, is the main event with Kjartan Sveinsson of Sigur Rós fame heading a lineup of new music from seven Icelandic composers. Finally a brand new commission from one of the UK’s rising classical stars, Jack White produced through our residency programme ”Collaborative Compositions“ with Sound and Music will be performed by the performers it was writter for - The South Iceland Chamber Choir. We’re honoured to be welcoming a stellar line up of soloists to the event too: Bjorg Thorhallsdottir (soprano) Elisabet Einarsdóttir (soprano) Tui Hirv (soprano) Gudrun Olafsdottir (mezzosoprano) Eyjolfur Eyjolfsson (tenor) Hrolfur Saemundsson (bariton) and Adrian Peacock (bass) Celebrating landscape and literature in Shakespeare’s own place of worship the concert is a one-off opportunity to experience Tavener’s latest masterpiece performed by a choir handpicked by the composer himself.
