Hurricane Dave And The Storm Chasers - Blooze BlowDown - 11 - My Boat's Got A Hole In It by David Biondo published on 2022-11-10T05:15:55Z Jason and I were in the Studio, and I was struggling with getting the right chord structure for another song. He kept saying That's not it. That's not it. I eventually did go back home and rewrite that part and surprised him for I think Rat Mobile. I eventually said My Boat's Got a Hole in It. He says, That's a song. We quickly pen some lyrics, and he writes a loose guitar line, and I am playing it in G. We set this song aside for 10 months. One day we pulled it out and I start rewriting and we are trading guitar licks back and forth. We stick some different alternate lyrics in there and now the song is starting to craft. I went home and was playing some records on the turntable. I had collected a lot of Reggae like Paublo Moses, Augustus Paublo, Dillenger, Marley, Tosh, Yellow Man...I like some of the horn stuff too along with Melodica. This music is pure genius, and I was surprised how gifted some of these are artists are. My girlfriend, yes, Jane had never heard some of this music and she said while were listening that it was absolutely positively stupendous. MUN! I was then driving to the studio, and I started thinking about putting reggae into My Boat's Got a Hole in It. We pull it up I say to Jason let's put the middle of this into a reggae song. He says Oh Yeah! Rewrites again. The whaling pirate thing was before I knew that some of this music was making a comeback. When I heard it of course I couldn't be happier, since we had already cut it. When I turned the Band onto it, they were like right on. They knocked it out of the park. You can hear Wayne's Spaghetti Western influence and Betsy Ruckard did the backing vocals. Dewey and Dwight killed it. Dwight lived in Trinidad, so this was right up his alley. Bryant really set it up with a seaworthy feel and then I added the melodica tracks at the end. I ordered this instrument midstream of the changes and when i pulled it out of the box I just started playing it like I had one all my life. That thing is way cool. MOJO! See it at a show for yourself. Genre Blues Reggae Yacht Rock Whaling Song Comment by The One Tonic Great jams Dave! 2023-04-09T04:02:23Z
