David Simnel
Devon UK
I'm a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist who works in the UK. Main instruments are piano, guitar, accordion, hammer dulcimer, vibes, marimbas, drums, a little cello and trombone. I love experimenting with most styles as long as there is a song structure, lyrics and melody. So you'll find me dabbling in electro, new wave, disco, acoustic, indie, rock 'n' roll, jazz, classical, cinematic, soundtracks, torch songs, chanson. I'm a crooner for the 21st century, so most songs I write have my particular vocal styling. I love the epic ballads of the 50's and 60's by Scott Walker, Mel Torme, Johnnie Ray, Jack Jones, Frank Sinatra, Elvis, Dusty Springfield, but as a child of the late 70's early 80's I was influenced by punk, new wave, indie and alternative music, with the likes of Siouxsie, Blondie, Talking Heads, Cure, Soft Cell, Associates, Smiths, Kirsty MacColl and hundreds more I could mention. So basically with me, you get a very strange hybrid of all those elements and influences, even I don't know which direction or style I'm going to try out for each new track, although I'm really enjoying doing a kind of melodic electronica, with cinematic overtones, which is a good setting for my voice hopefully. Any questions, or offers of collaboration then please get in touch. Always looking for exciting projects to get involved in. Thanks for listening, reading, and hopefully your support!! Cheers x
