Deft - Emeralds (WOT015) by Deft published on 2014-03-07T00:13:51Z Deft - Always Greener EP WOTNOT MUSIC - WOT 015 (24th March 2014) http://pitchfork.com/reviews/tracks/16791-emeralds/ Despite refusing to stick to a single genre, Deft is one of those immediately recognisable producers, which is nice because it means we don’t have to waste any time comparing him to anyone else. 2013 saw the Croydon man skilfully hopping from headphone to dance styles, often within a track, his signature blend of cinematic soundscapes and crisp, intricate percussion covering hip-hop, house, and ambient. What’s more, his noteworthy contributions to the burgeoning UK footwork scene means the young producer can now count Mark Pritchard, DJ Shadow and Rockwell among his biggest fans, and boy does this boy have fans, check this Bandcamp review of his Project Mooncircle EP Voight Kampff: Anything this magician puts out has a pretty good chance of getting you pregnant right in the good old music hole. Says it all really. Emeralds opens with bubbling synths, building into epic space-station jungle juke with haunting toplines and heart-shaking bass. Cavernous electronic atmospheres introduce A Little Kiss, which interleaves percussion and stuttering bass with the incredible attention to detail we’ve come to know and love. Octavia is a feisty younger sister to Loqux & Past, the Maya Jane Coles-championed hit from his Space Hardware EP; warm, headnod house joined by a SHOWER bass-line that roundhouse kicks its older sibling in the face for hogging the limelight. Maintaining the hyper vibes, Perky couples spiky footwork beats with slowly-evolving chords creating euphoric rises and falls, leading perfectly to the epic reflection of closing interlude On The Other Side. All in all, Deft is an artist who continues to develop in awesome and interesting ways, increasingly able to balance striking dance music with immersive ambience. And finding his path with similarly ambitious labels like WotNot, there’s a not-too-distant future where Deft no longer worries that it’s always greener on the other side. http://deftmusic.com http://facebook.com/deftmusic http://twitter.com/deft_1 http://wotnot.tv Comment by ladiesandgentlemen-part2 Really Niiiiiice guy 👌 2022-11-26T14:08:55Z Comment by Ryan Kwok soundtrack to the musk family fortune 2022-05-05T15:00:38Z Comment by Paranoid crazy 2022-04-23T22:12:40Z Comment by luigiman696 obscene 👌😁 2021-07-14T19:29:33Z Comment by Billel Heroumi flawless 2021-03-31T01:33:03Z Comment by mahtZz 😍 2020-11-04T06:06:47Z Comment by ToOch can thisbe bought anywhere? 2020-05-19T02:44:19Z Comment by Yung Thom oof 2020-05-07T13:05:31Z Comment by Orca Silent beauty 2017-11-28T19:09:47Z Comment by Gada This is the song the reminds me about 2014 2017-06-21T01:51:03Z Comment by Na'Roon the base is on point.. 2017-02-19T04:31:33Z Comment by -Stratusphere- mmmm 2017-02-07T01:40:39Z Comment by RebelBass Spectacular, big ups 2017-01-02T16:21:29Z Comment by shauntishaunti soooo dooopppeee 2016-11-18T05:42:47Z Comment by S є t t i є ohhh fuckkkkkkkkk 2016-06-29T18:26:28Z Comment by Eclecteel This music means business 2016-05-22T23:58:15Z Comment by potions yeee 2016-04-06T20:08:39Z Comment by Eskpzm !!!!!!!!!!!! 2016-04-06T15:01:33Z Comment by sergiyholinka freakin awesome 2016-03-07T11:55:55Z Comment by Esofact so much vibe 2015-12-01T01:05:03Z Comment by arge. wang wanggg wang wang 2015-10-21T23:11:54Z Comment by Gaze ill Ohhh my days, this is lovely! 2015-10-21T09:59:28Z Comment by Dilbert nice 2015-10-21T08:15:06Z Comment by RUDICAL ☠ DUB Crap, this is blowing me away.
