Runkus - Quarantine Slide by Delicious Vinyl Island published on 2020-11-20T18:50:04Z Dancehall meets R&B, then gets introduced to pure ‘vibes’ on the latest release from artist and producer Runkus. “Quarantine Slide” is the first track from the artist’s project inspired by the Jamaica government-ordered lockdown of St. Catherine (including Portmore), where he resides. “I said to myself: you can either be depressed or inspired… I chose to be inspired.” The track was co-produced by Runkus and Tyrese McNaughton of the famed Universal Zinc Fence Records. With a usual unorthodox approach to creating music, Runkus decided to let his audience in on the more carnal side to his work, the “Quarantine Slide” having a more loaded meaning. “The song is really about being locked down with someone who makes you want to lock down,” Runkus said. Released along with the audio is the visuals, shot entirely via the talents’ mobile phones. Runkus conceptualised the video, and utilized his friends and longtime collaborator Tim Forrester, who directed it. The video shows video calls between Runkus and different women. “It was a natural progression,” he said. “People are trying to FaceTime others who [they hope] are willing to brave the Covid time to visit; video calling has become the new way to be intimate with the people you care about.” In a light moment, his sister appears in the video, interrupting his call, as he said, “She would be the only person who could realistically interrupt me in the midst of that.” “Quarantine Slide” is available now across all platforms and is released via LA-based Indie label Delicious Vinyl Island who have recently been behind Blvk H3ro & Wayne J’s ‘New Millennium’ EP, . Additionally, the visuals have also been released on Runkus’ YouTube page. Genre Dancehall Comment by Rae Pharoah 💥 2021-01-07T04:37:16Z
