Woodpecker drumming at wildlife pond in Ouachita National Forest (Arkansas, USA) 5am Mar 08, 2020 by dismalhiker published on 2020-03-11T16:36:04Z Excerpt from 18 hour overnight recording. Microphones attached to a tree facing a wildlife pond in a remote forested area in Arkansas, USA. The pond is surrounded by pine trees and the sound of wind in the trees is present. The night was cold, relatively quiet and the recording setup was not ideal for a quiet winter soundscape. Gain increase and some noise-reduction applied. Never-the-less, this excerpt captures the pre-dawn soundscape at about 5 am in this wild location, with pileated woodpecker calls and drumming, crows and other birds not yet identified.
