I wanted to make a tribute to Lil' Louis, but I wanted to do it a little bit different
instead of just playing his tracks I wanted to add some extra elements. So I wanted to have an 80’s feel but with some percussions, so this is what I came up with.
Also since I’m a JR, i was called Lil Gary so I though this title was appropriate.
Trax:
01 DJ Disciple - Ill Concepts & Lil' Louis - I'm On The Guest List (Accapella)
I started this off with a lil louis accapella of his ex trying to get into a club to find him.
This is over a crazy disciple sample of Stargard - Which Way Is Up.
02 Junior Sanchez & Rhythm Masters - I'm Kummin
It seems like if your going to produce house, you have to have a version of Machine - There But For The Grace Of God Go I, and here is their version of it.
03 Par-T-One - I'm So Crazy
One hit wonders with a dope remix of INXS - Just Keep Walking & Dennis Parker - Like an Eagle
04 White Label of Divine (aka Bobby O) - Native Love (Step By Step)
Some crazy Techno white label of this classic Bobby Orlando track, catalog#: BURNS 02
05 Zeka - Breathe
I don’t know if this is an aka or what, but his is the only release by Zeba that I can find.
This is a dope dope techno track released on Clashbackk, sampling Liquid Liquid - Optimo.
Liquid Liquid went off, this is one of the greatest rhythm tracks ever made.
PS. If anybody knows the lyrics let me know.
06 Thee Jamie Starr Scenario (aka Felix Da Housecat) - Welcome 2 Thee Lite
You can’t have an dark 80’s sound without Steve Nicks. So I decided to cut her vocals
over Felix’s version of Steve Nicks - Stand Back, I don’t know why I did this cuz I can’t scratch.
07 white label of Daryl Hall & John Oates - I Can't Go For That & Lil' Louis & The World - Club Lonely (accapella)
No explanation needed here, this is a dub of Hall & Oates over another Lil Louis accapella.
08 White Lable of Kate Bush - Running Up That Hill (Berlin House Mixes)
This is a house remix of Kate Bush (vocal version), no trance/progressive crap here.
09 Erick Morillo, Harry Romero & Jose Nunez Ft. Jessica Eve - Dancin
I put this on here because it’s almost a bite of off Lil Louis. This record help revived Subliminal, but it was inevitable that the label would go to crap again.
10 Green Velvet (aka Cajmere) - Flash
Green Velvet took over once Lil Louis left chicago. This is one of the biggest Relief (Cajual sister label) records, he killed it on this track.
11 Literon - White Falls (gary's edit) & Lil' Louis & The World - I Called U (But U Went To The Party Accapella)
A white label of Lil Louis - Why'd U Fall, I had to re-edit it because it’s like a 8 minute track. Along with another LiL Louis acapella over it.
12 Lil' Louis - French Kiss & C'hantal - The Realm (accapella)
Louis made it to number 1 on the billboard charts with this masterpiece, with the help of Larry Heard.
With the crazy break down, and the female moaning over it, who can’t love this track. Along with another techno classic acapella from C’hantal.
13 Lil' Louis & The World - I Called U (The Conversation)
One of the best house traxx with a sax over it and a dope bass line, this is another house classic.
This record has been sampled over and over again from Sandy Rivera to a ton of bootlegs.
14 Gene Farris - Summer Affair (Cajual & Relief Records Versions)
Gene Farris sampled Gary's Gang - Do It At The Disco with the bass from Lil Louis to help make this one of his biggest records.
I played both the Cajual & Relief version to get a better sound.
15 Lil' Louis - The Original Video Clash
Often Imitated Never Duplicated, he got that right. There is a lot of Chicago history on this record.
16 Rob Jarvis / Ben Sims / Phil Vernol - Killa Bite 1 EP
The first time I heard this I thought I was going to have a hart attack, with all the energy on this record. Samples Lil' Louis - Music Takes U Away
17 Submission (aka Cevin Fisher) - Women Beat Their Men & Dominatrix – The Dominatrix Sleeps Tonight (Acapella)
With his Tribal House style sampling El Coco - Afrodesia and the vocals from Dominatrix, Cevin Fisher created a dance floor killer.
18 Designer Music (aka Carl Craig) - Good Girls
Sampling Samba Drums from Sergio Mendez - Carnaval Batucada made this another Classic from the master.
Also this is more of a house/techno felling asposed to The Good Men - Give it up, progressive/club mix.
19 Lil Louis And The Diamond Corp. - Wargames
Louis snapped on this, no typical 4/4 house beats on this track.
20 Lil' Louis - Blackout & Kraze - The Party (accapella)
To end the mix, I had to return to classic keyboard sound that we all grew to love.
With Kraze that’s right; look at the guy with the green hair, lets get out of here….
