House music all night long...
From the San Francisco bay area, DubWood fell in love with the underground electronic scene in 1991. Frequenting the Wicked parties, DubWood found a home and strted to be known in the scene. In the mid 90’s DubWood relocated to southern California, this is where his career blossomed.
In 1997, DubWood bought his first decks and from there the rest is history. In 1998 DubWood formed the famed FunHouse Productions in San Diego. A slew of one offs, warehouse parties, club nights at the famous Ultra, and Sutra, FunHouse made a name for itself very quickly. This led to multiple residencies in San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. Soon after DubWood started producing.
DubWoods first album “Inspiracion” (under the JayWood moniker) was quickly picked up by a popular European label Drenched Recordings. This album was critically acclaimed and was played regularly by heavy hitters James Zabiela and Ben Watt. This album was the catalyst to a European fan base. This is where DubWood’s global footprint increased.
This was the first of successful albums. Soon to follow was releases on labels like mega house label GuestHouse. Other labels included Scenic, Public Access, Anonymous Recordings, One Night, and Beat Platter. These releases got DubWood noteable gigs like sharing the stage with WuTang at the Oracle festival in Los Angeles, and to headline the OM Lounge in San Francisco. Not only did these releases get DubWood noteable gigs, he was featured on radio and print. Regular write up’s and reviews in DJ Mag, XLRBR, and local press, solidified DubWoods career.
One of the most notable releases by DubWood was his release of One Night in Long Beach. This remix album gained him mass respect amongst house heavy hitters like Doc Martin, Dj Diz, Dj Heather, Miles Maeda, and many others. This record gained him significant recognition at WMC 2005. To this day, this record is one of the most valuable records on Discogs.com.
After a brief hiatus, and a move to Denver Colorado in 2007, DubWood started back up his career in the Denver scene. Much like southern California, it didn’t take much to solidify his role as a local heavy hitter. Soon DubWood gained a residency with Floor Bangerz, a local promotion powerhouse. This landed DubWood in some high profile venues playing for thousands of people. DubWood also formed the event promotion company OvrDub, and brought Denver their signature event, the FreeMan Music Festival. DubWood has recently been taking his sound to the burn community and packing dancefloors at regional burns like Apogaea, SunBurn, and Saguaro Man.
With two decades under his belt, DubWood shows no signs of slowing down. With a slew of new tracks in his signature style, DubWood is looking to owning the dancefloor for another decade.
