About DX7 THE MELODIC GENIUS
Original (Boogie Down BronX O.G. baby of 63. Baby kin to a Young Lord, Majestic Brothers, Zulu affiliates / Peoples Party of 178th St and Tremont Ave, as well as Rock City Crew AND GRANT CREW IN BRKLYN ENY. I grew up during the birth of the Hip Hop era of KOOL HERC and GRAND MASTER FLASH and musically it became a big part of my roots and who i am today. As a musician, music is & will always be the Queen of my Soul. During THIS era I started as a Singer/Drummer, playing bands & doing shows while looking for my Big break in the industry during the 80's. I then signed unto a couple of independent labels who did nothing but sell us dreams, while paying us peanuts. Then in 1984 I met Oscar Rodriguez, (Aka: OC of the Fearless Four, and D.j. Charlie Chase of the Cold Crush Brothers) and was welcomed to a family that became a force to be reckoned with Pure Knockout Productions, (P.K.O) gave me the pleasure of working & meeting some of todays Legendary pioneers of Hip-Hop AND UNDER THE SAME UMBRELLA WITH THE GROUP CALLED TRILOGYI I WAS SIGNED WITH PKO RECORDS ALONG WITH MY BAND MATE JOHN LESCOUFAIR AND WE WERE CALLED WHITE/FLAIR A ROCK POP AND RNB DUEL . Pioneers like the Fearless Four, Melly Mel, Tyrone Williams of Cold Chillen Records, Whodini, Dougy Fresh, The Treacherous Three, MC Shan & Scott LaRock, (R.I.P)...the list goes on and on OCCASIONNALLY RECORDED IN THE SAME STUDIO. The experiEnce became a big inspiration & part of my musical roots. Then in 1987 I faded out in search of different venues WITH AN RNB DUEL CALLED JUST US RECORDED FOUR PROMISING CUTS BUT LACK OF MANAGEMENT THREW ANOTHER CURVE BALL and SO I DECIDED TO moved out to Baltimore FOR A CHANGE IN PACE by 1992. Yet in spite of my personal set backs, music was still a part of my soul, and I continued to produce music and work on my dreams of becoming a successful music producer. As you can hear from what I put together, my sounds are unique and different from todays ordinary songs. As an artist, I still have the tendency of using funk, jazz, rock & old school in order to influence me in what I put together WITH MY INSTRUMENTALS. Lookin to produce movies, television and commercial soundtracks and jingles for anyone interested. I hope that you enjoy the tracks ON THIS PAGE, and if you decide you'd like to hear more, or possibly work together then you can reach me @ damartinez796@gmail.com oR
