Quintettino In B Major by Fernando Arruda published on 2014-06-13T23:47:19Z "The Romantic and Impressionist movements influence my compositions. The exacerbated emotional intensity of the first counterbalances the unfinished fleeting moments suggested by the latter. It is certain that they diverge in harmonic vocabulary, form and texture but my heart rejoices where they overlap: the focus on human emotions and closeness to nature. Those two characteristics are abundant in Brazil, yet they are also the key culture-shocking elements I experience as a Brazilian living in New York. Quintettino in B Major advocates this Romantic-Impressionist hybrid ideal of focusing on human emotions as well as constantly seeking nature’s advice in how we should conduct ourselves; much needed traits in our ever- growing cyber society."
