Gare Saint Lazare by Fernando Arruda published on 2016-01-22T02:36:24Z Art&Sax's Saxophone Quartet debut album was recorded in Brazil and mixed/mastered in New York City. Titled "Gare Saint Lazare”, it is a synthesis of life and musical experiences of the group members. The album won this title in tribute to the work Sanit-Gare Lazare (1st track of the disc), originally written for saxophone quartet, by the young saxophonist and composer Douglas Braga (São Paulo). The "flagship" artwork alludes to the saga lived by the composer himself while he passed by one of the largest train station in the world: St. Lazarus Station (Gare Sanit-Lazare) located in Paris (France). Along with this masterpiece, the album includes three other major works that invite the listener on a journey of emotions through music history. You can but it here. The early music, represented on the CD by the Brandenburg Concerto #3, written by the master Johan Sebastian Bach (4th track on the disc), reveals beauty enhanced by the full and warm tone of the work performed by modern instruments. Following this musical journey, the listener is faced with the contemplative and famous Adagio by Samuel Barber (2nd track on the disc). Rounding out this musical journey, Art & Sax Quartet plays one of the ultimate chamber music repertoire pieces for saxophone quartet, the Introduction et Variations sur une Ronde Populaire French composed by Gabriel Pierné. Gare Saint-Lazare is the first full album with classical music for saxophone quartet recorded and released in Brazil. The album includes the first recording of the work by Douglas Braga, Gare Saint-Lazare.
