"'Can You?' is the first track to be made available from Fragile Creatures self-produced, self-released Heart Beat EP. The EP drops on May 3rd, 'Can You?' is available for immeditate download now when you pre-order the EP from Bandcamp.
'Can You?' is inspired by diverse themes; from Kanye West's "I Am Picasso and Steve Jobs" rant, to Sofia Coppola's film The Bling Ring, and the treatment of the last Inca emperor, Atahualpa, at the hands of the conquistadores. It's a tongue-in-cheek critique of late capitalism's obsession with the validation that luxury items can bring.
Fragile Creatures found our previous music industry set-up frustrating, from a combination of bad luck and slow moving partners our debut album came out 2 years late, with no solid plans for the follow-up we had already written. We decided to become self-reliant: we taught ourselves to record on a shoestring and I went back to school, to study the industry at WaterBear college in Brighton. Heart Beat EP is our first experiment with being a self-releasing, DIY band. We hope you like it!" Adam Kidd

Lyrics:
Can you?
Get an invite to the party
Can you?
Pass for glitterati
Can you?
Wear their clothes, act like no one knows,
You're dressed in lies from your head down to your toes
You can talk but can you listen?
You say all the glistens is not gold
Can you tell me truly that your idea of beauty
Ain't turning up in the emperor's new clothes?
Can you?
See me on the TV
Can you?
Believe they've made it into a movie?
Can you?
Watch my show, now everybody knows
I'm real I've got a brand and a cologne
You can talk but can you listen?
They say all the glistens is not gold
Can you tell me truly that your idea of beauty
Ain't turning up in the emperor's new clothes?
Can you?
You can talk, talk, talk, but can you listen?
They say all the glistens is not gold
Can you tell me truly that your idea of beauty
Ain't just stealing Atahualpa's gold?
That Spanish gold it can't help you now
Cos this is just a lie you stole
Can you tell me truly your quest for fame and booty
Ain't just digging you a deeper hole?
Can you?
