Fragile Creatures new single, Parallel Lines, is available digitally from May 29th 2020. A fourth teaser single from their forthcoming second album, Punk Yacht, scheduled for release in August the album was recorded by the band in the Portslade rehearsal room they share with Electric Soft Parade. Fragile Creatures are the main project from Brighton musician Adam Kidd, a singer-songwriter who’s been playing the local scene since his early teens, son of Jeremy Kidd, the singer from classic 80s indie band the Red Guitars. Adam has played side-man for groups like ESP side-project The Fiction Aisle, Fierce Friend, and The Mojo Fins, whilst quietly working away on solo projects and fronting the mighty Fragile Creatures.
Combining rock, pop, grunge and catchy melodies, Fragile Creatures evoke the spirit of great musical innovators of the past from Bowie to Blur and beyond. The band are gearing up to release Punk Yacht, with a series of psych-pop singles. ‘Parallel Lines’, the latest of these, is the most mellow track on the album, reminiscent of John Lennon’s simple ballad writing. Its lyric considering patience in troubling times it seems to resonate with the lockdown conditions of 2020. Speaking about ‘Parallel Lines’ Kidd states;
"I wrote this one three years ago, getting over the end of a long-term relationship and struggling to open up to new possibilities. The refrain, "you can't go back home," is meant to reference Greek philosopher Heraclitus' observation that, “No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river and he's not the same man.” Time and events in our lives changes us, for better or for worse we become new people, which is something we all must accept if we are to move forwards."
Over the coming weeks Fragile Creatures will perform every song from Punk Yacht ahead of its August release on their YouTube channel. In the absence of live performance, the band are creating stripped back lockdown-live versions recorded from their separate homes, and interspersed with cover songs from bands they are influenced by.
