Fridens Liljor = Peace Lilies, a Swedish salutation associated with the working class. Femininity, virginity, pureness and death are often symbolised by lilies.
First album in the making, until then - enjoy raw sound files from small and big live concerts, on request from our beloved audience and ballad-chorus-singers! Every performance is unique and this is just a small selection of interpretations and songs.
Traditional music, mainly Swedish, inspired by personal relations with older singers and story-tellers, archival records, old legends, the latest in folk music research and youtube clips with various rock and roll heroes - from the big stages as well as traditional kitchen-singing-heroes!
KRISTIN BORGEHED comes from all over middle Sweden (Uppsala, Dalarna, Hälsingland, Härjedalen) and her role in Fridens Liljor is to sing, play the double bass and drive the car when touring. One day also the clarinet, zither and fiddle - so far rarely officially. When not singing in Fridens Liljor or other constellations she works as a PhD researcher at the Elphinstone Institute, University of Aberdeen, Scotland, investigating timbre/intonation/tonality in traditional singing and its mutual impact and effect on mood/mindset/temperament. (http://www.abdn.ac.uk/staffnet/profiles/r01keb12, http://www.abdn.ac.uk/the-north/research/the-northern-temperament/cultural-performance/).
RASMUS KROHN from Blekinge, the outmost southeast county called Sweden's garden, plays guitars, mandolin, fiddle and sings. His role on tours are beyond playing quite a few - read maps, speak Danish, make bad jokes and very dark coffee. Apart from playing in Fridens Liljor he studies folk music and pedagogy at The Malmö Academy of Music, Sweden.
We are honoured to travel almost anywhere near and far to sing, play, teach (singing, guitar/other string things, ballads, hymns, herding calls) and talk (tonality, timbre, singing, folk music) - please contact us for more info! / Kristin and Rasmus
