La triste perte de James Ingram ce 29 janvier 2019 m'a incité à me mettre aux platines pour vous proposer se mélange, mes également jeter un nouveau regard sur son catalogue de dos. Mon premier achat de James Ingram était le disque Q LP "The Dude" de Virgin Records à Bruxelles...
Mais revenons sur la carrière de James.
Après avoir appris en autodidacte le piano, la guitare, la basse, la batterie et le synthétiseur, il démarre dans la musique comme membre du groupe Revelation Funk.
En 1981, il participe à l'album du groupe Zingara, produit et arrangé par Lamont Dozier.
La même année, il interprète Just Once et One Hundred Ways et The Dude pour l'album de Quincy Jones The Dude.
Ils écriront tous les deux le titre P. Y. T. (Pretty Young Thing) pour l'album Thriller de Michael Jackson, deux ans plus tard.
Il collabore également avec Ray Charles, Michael McDonald, Clive Griffin, Patti Austin, Natalie Cole ou encore Kenny Rogers. Son duo avec Patti Austin, "Baby, Come to Me", lui permet de décrocher la première place du Bilboard Hot 100 en février 1983.
En 1983 il écrit avec Michael McDonald et Rod Temperton Ya Mo Be There. Ce titre, produit par Quincy Jones, sera un duo entre lui et Michael McDonald et un tube international.
En 1985, il participe à We Are the World avec USA for Africa. Deux ans plus tard, il remporte un Grammy Award pour son interprétation de Somewhere Out There (extraite du film Fievel et le nouveau monde) en duo avec Linda Ronstadt.
En 1987, il interprète Better Way sur la bande originale du film Le Flic de Beverly Hills 2.
Ce mélange couvre ses sorties des années 80 et 90 jusqu'à ses apparitions sur des joyaux funky house de MAW et Markus Enochson.. 14 classiques dans le mélange.

The sad loss of James Ingram this January 29, 2019 encouraged me to put on the turntables to propose mixes, my also take a new look at his back catalog. My first James Ingram purchase was LP LP "The Dude" from Virgin Records in Brussels ...
But let's go back to James' career.
