Tahir's work has developed from an interest in contemporary identities shaped by an economic, geopolitical, and social system. He draws from his personal experiences to create narratives and concepts inspired by these communities. Tahir combines digital photography, photocopying, collage, and portraiture with paper making to explore these concepts. We discuss his journey as a young person growing up in Nairobi, to where he is today, pivoting around careers as he finally ended up doing what he loves as an artist. We talk about the role of art in addressing social issues and the obstacles facing youth who want to pursue art and any 'unpredictable' careers.
