Blockbuster Blues by Griffin Winton published on 2021-04-20T20:25:56Z It’s a reboot; it’s a remake; it’s a reshoot; it’s a replay. Its a cash grab, but its a hashtag so it’s a hit. It’s a statement; it’s a warning; it’s a metaphor and it’s important. It didn’t work last time, but hell maybe this time it’ll stick. It’s a theme; it’s a repetition, it’s a variation—the next edition. It’s gonna be bigger and better and badder than it’s ever been. Ain’t your grandpa’s, ain’t your mama’s ain’t your uncle’s, ain't your papa’s. It’s all for you, and in fact, I’ve never even heard of them. You don’t know what you’re missing. Almost no one ever does. There might be pretty good fishing beneath your ark, might be blood on the beak of your dove. There’s a hold-up; there’s a problem. We got issues, we gotta solve ‘em. There’s someone standing in between you and your fun. It’s a lawsuit, it’s a petition, say they can’t work in these conditions. They're just lazy, a little hard work never killed anyone. They got a union, they got a clubhouse, they got a theme song, they’re gonna walk-out. They’re just greedy, they think they can make us pay. Don’t you worry, don’t you sweat it, I got a buddy in the senate. He’s got a bill that’ll kill their momentum, and keep em in their place. Cause the show must go on, at least that’s what they say. You don’t know what you’re missing. Almost no one ever does. There might be pretty good fishing beneath your ark, might be blood on the beak of your dove. There you have it, there’s the process to make a blockbuster and be a success. You gotta chop down a few trees to make a little mulch. Just watch the movie, those folks’ll be fine. Eat your popcorn, you’re on the right side. You deserve a break and some peace of mind. After all, you can’t spell culture without cult. Genre Folk & Singer-Songwriter
