One-Hundred-Seventy-Nineth Hate Podcast with Rebekah.
Birmingham born, Berlin-based DJ, Producer, Live Act, and Label Owner Rebekah is the multifaceted artist leading the way in today’s techno scene.
Undoubtedly one of the most revered names in techno, Rebekah boasts a string of notable releases on the likes of Mord, Soma, CLR, and Elements, and has been highly regarded by the likes of Chris Liebing, Bas Mooy, Paula Temple, Perc and many more throughout the course of her career. She’s earned her respected reputation over recent years, with her relentlessly heavy sound winning her titles such as DJ Mag’s Best Producer in 2018, and featuring as their January cover star in 2019. She launched her highly successful live set in late 2018 which was named by Resident Advisor as one of the best performances of ADE 2018.
Her affiliation with music and DJing began by chance after a teenage Rebekah stumbled upon a techno night held at her local haunt in Birmingham, Que Club. After her indoctrination to not only techno but the Birmingham sound itself, Rebekah pursued her calling and returned to college to study production, followed years later by a move to Berlin spurred on by the attention surrounding her 2012 remix of Matador’s ‘Blond Slackers’.
From early releases on Naked Lunch, Coincidence and Cult Figures, Rebekah went on to pique the attention of techno heavyweights, including Chris Liebing with whom she released her ‘Cycles’ EP via his CLR imprint in 2013. Her relationship with CLR continued into 2015 with her ‘Distant’ EP which came after a sublime three-track EP on Sleaze and first release on Soma Records, followed by her 13 track LP for the label in 2017, 'Fear Paralysis’.
Since then, Rebekah has released with the likes of Modularz, Perc Trax, Mord and Elements, her party-series-come-label which has homed releases from Lag, noneoftheabove, Storb, and A Birth Defect. Fast forward to 2019 and she’s released a third EP on Soma Records ’Murder In Birmingham’, a homage to her hometown, and has released multiple remixes on the likes of Emika Records and her Elements imprint. Not to forget her heavy touring schedule, which has seen her play in at least 50 countries, and counting.
Initially unveiled in 2018, her live show made its global debut at some of the world's best and most renowned electronic music festivals and clubs, with her performances receiving accolades from dance music media and fans alike. Later in the year, the haunting techno artist hosted her own ‘Rebekah Invites’ event during ADE, which featured artists such as DJ Stingray, Dasha Rush, Parrish Smith, and Dark Chambers.
2020 will see Rebekah delve into some exciting projects, including a highly anticipated solo release on her Elements label and an already brimming tour schedule featuring appearances in all corners of the globe including Tokyo, Toronto, Seoul, Amsterdam, and Rome, to name a few.
