Heavy yet melodic. Loud but catchy. Sexy and awesome. These are the things that pop into the heads of people at an i am sunday show.
Our moms' favorite band since early 2013, i am sunday is a power trio from Saginaw, Michigan, playing hard rock originals with influences ranging from blues to metal, classic rock to rap, funk to alternative.
The roots of the group go back to the scene and sound of the 1990s. And while this means we’re thirtysomethings, it also means we have the worldliness, musical experience, elder gentlemanly swagger and old man strength that many younger upstarts do not.
Listening to i am sunday or seeing the band happen to a stage is like watching an electric monster unfurl his genitalia across the faces of the gods. Yet gently and lovingly, with lyrics that explore the spiritual struggles we all deal with as humans. No, seriously.
Not convinced you should book i am sunday, see a show or download some of our tracks? Check out what some of our dozens of fans are saying:
“I went to a bar and for a minute I thought Nirvana was playing. But then this guitar solo came in all loud like Eric Clapton, and I’m like, ‘Is this Cream?’ When I finally turned around to look, it was i am sunday! I was actually kind of drunk, but it was still really awesome.”
“i am sunday has songs you can download off the interwebs and they’re my favorite live local band. Them and HushPup, Dirty Dozen Donuts, #hashtag and Squoink.”
“I can sum up i am sunday in three words: riff-driven, rock with pop sensibilities, sing alongable choruses, eclectic, blues-based, musicians’ musicians, energetic, shoe-gazing-electronica-influenced noise makers, low carb, cool. Also, I’m no good at word counting.”
