Residing in Bologna, Italy’s capital of food and music, Ilary Montanari is one of electronic music’s best kept secrets.
She began her journey in 2014, spinning house in small clubs around the city, earning herself a residency at one of Bologna’s most exciting events ‘051 Party Bologna’.
Determined to take her career to greater heights, Ilary began producing deep house in 2015, influenced by old skool icons Little Louie Vega, Frankie Knuckles, Deep Dish and Dennis Ferrer. Her debut release, ‘Deep In My Soul’ was picked up by Italian label New Creatures, kickstarting her adventure as a professional artist.
Over time, Ilary’s approach evolved to suit the ever changing landscape of house, developing a signature brand of tech house consisting of driving bass lines and latin percussion, often coupled with hispanic vocals.
Despite the commercialisation of the scene in recent years she has invariably stuck to her roots, consistently delivering a raw, authentic sound which has allowed her music to stand out in a heavily saturated industry.
2018 was Ilary’s breakthrough year.
Her hit single ‘Morenita’ was immediately snapped up by Flashmob Records, giving rise to one of the most successful tech house collaborations of 2018.
It took almost two months for the original to finally lose its place in the Traxsource Top 100 chart, while label boss Flashmob’s remix of the track earned more than 10 Million streams worldwide.
By the turn of the year, Ilary had secured a number of releases on respected labels Klaphouse, Natura Viva and Supernova’s imprint Lapsus Music.
In 2019, Ilary’s friendship with Flashmob and the label bore another fruit; ‘La Pluma’ a South American infused record that captured the very same raw, latin spirit that had catapulted ‘Morenita’ into the charts. It’s no surprise label boss Alessandro couldn’t resist putting his own spin on it with another Flashmob remix.
These days, you can find Ilary performing in venues across Europe, with appearances at Sonar and ADE festivals under her belt and an array of high profile releases on labels such as Happy Techno, Material, Basica Recordings, Freakin 909, Ocean Trax and Safe Music.
What’s more, in Ilary’s own words “The best is yet to come”
