Drakkar Noir & Heidi Sabertooth: The Sleep of Reason [JKTN073 Preview] by Jacktone | Dreamtone published on 2021-04-06T19:04:56Z Heidi Sabertooth (@heidisabertooth) and Drakkar Noir (aka R Gamble @rgamble) are both core members of Lost Soul Enterprises (@lost-soul-enterprises), a New York based label and platform for analog experiments and mutant sounds past and present: wave, electro, body music, and all things in between. This EP represents the first time these two artists have appeared together on the same release. The title of the EP, 'The Sleep of Reason' is inspired by the famous Goya etching (The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters). It is intended as both a homage to a visionary artist and a reflection that the sentiment in the artwork resonates particularly today. Both artists approach music production using primarily analog hardware and synthesizers, rather than computers. 'The Sleep of Reason' showcases two well-seasoned artists flexing a mastery of their machines, delivering subterranean electro, techno and body music. Gritty, murky basslines meet squelching melodies and alien vocals, all with the vibrant, present, live-wire energy of a hardware set performed in a smoky, crowded basement, rather than programmed within the confines of a studio.
